Styrmir to host

Iceland´s queer sport organization Styrmir is to host the International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics championships in 2012.  The event is expected to attract large crowd of athletes around the world and will be one of the biggest Aquatic sport event to be held in Iceland. According to Bjarni Sneabjorndsson, member of the local gay sport organization Styrmir, organizers are hoping to see some 1.000 athletes showing up for the event.

 

With strong support from the Icelandic Swimming Association, Mayor of Reykjavik, Minister of Education, Director of Culture & Tourism and many others Styrmir bid to host the event was awarded by acclaim at the IGLA Annual General Meeting in Cologne 2010 (http://www.igla.org)
