Jón Þór Birgisson, better knows as Jónsi of Sigur Rós, is about to releases his debut solo album featuring 9 songs drawn from the large pool of material amassed by Jónsi during his many years as singer with Sigur Rós. The songs are arranged in collaboration with classical wunderkind Nico Muhly who has been labeled as "one of the hottest composers on the planet" in Daily Telegraph recently. Sigur Ros is one of Iceland´s best known names in music internationally coming second to Bjork.
Although this is Jonsi´s first solo album he and his partner Alex have been working together under the name Riceboy Sleeps. They have been making music together since 2003 when they first met in Boston, USA, but their work also includes artwork, videos and installations.
