Reykjavik Gay Pride weekend kicks off tonight, Thursday August 5th, with the Gay Pride opening ceremony in the Icelandic Opera starting 8 pm. Variety of events will take place during the pride weekend such as queer walking tours around Reykjavik city center, Queer Cruise from Reykjavik harbor and Saturday queer dances. The Saturday parade down Laugavegur and outdoor concert will of course mark the highlight of the event and is expected to attract thousand of people showing solidarity with the gay cause while celebrating live itself. The Gay Pride festivities in Reykjavík have been a marvellous success since 1999 and has become one of Iceland´s biggest outdoor event.
