The New York based pop-rock band Betty will be coming to Iceland for Reykjavik Gay Pride which takes place from August 9th to 12th. Pop-rock group Betty has been around since 1986 and recorded seven albums, including their latest "not-so-happy-holidays" cd. The group is also known for it´s L-Word theme songs which earned them international recognition. In addition to performing live and recording, BETTY wrote and starred in a hit Off-Broadway show, BETTY RULES (directed by Michael "Rent" Greif).
The band originates in Washington DC where the first three band members, activists Elizabeth Ziff, Alyson Palmer and Amy Ziff started as "an edgy a'cappella/spoken word/techno-beat trio known for fighting fiercely for causes in which they believe". Later to join the band were guitarist Tony Salvatore and drummer Mino Gori.
Reykjavik Gay Pride is Iceland´s biggest LGBT festival and one of the biggest events to take place in Reykjavik every year. Each year Reykjavik Gay Pride invites number of foreign artists to perform at the pride event and this year Gay Pride proudly introduce the five-piece pop-rock band Betty from New York.
