The Icelandic Queer Choir is busy practicing and getting ready for their trip to Dublin to perform at Various Voices (www.variousvoices.ie) in June. Various Voices is a pan-European choral festival aimed at gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender choirs and choruses.
The Reykjavík Queer Choir is based in Iceland´s Capital, Reykjavík. From the beginning it´s mission has been to create a prejudice-free environment where LGBTQ people can meet and enjoy singing together.
We´re pretty sure choir members didn´t foresee how busy they would get when starting the whole thing but since founded in July 2011 the choir has been busy performing at various events in Iceland including Reykjavik Gay Pride. The Dublin trip will be their second performance abroad, but the Queer Choir visited Faroe Islands during Faroe Pride in 2012. The choirs' conductor is Helga Margrét Marzellíusardóttir.
The Icelandic Queer Choir has made an introduction postcard for their upcoming Dublin performance, check it out!
