Queer Situations is a literary festival dedicated to queer literature in the broadest sense. The festival focuses on books by authors who identify as queer, as well as literature that exists outside the mainstream and opens up new ways of thinking about literature, society and identity.

The festival aims to create a platform for queer voices in literature, strengthen discussion on their own terms and connect Icelandic literary culture with the international field of queer literature. A particular emphasis is placed on inviting international authors to Iceland, opening up a wider conversation about the position, form and future of queer literature in Iceland.

The organisers of the festival emphasise inclusion and accessibility. The aim is to create an independent literary event where queer authors and their work are given space, attention and active listening — not only as part of larger festivals, but as a distinct platform in dialogue with other literary events.

Queer Situations is organised by writers Halla Þórlaug Óskarsdóttir and Eva Rún Snorradóttir, together with designer Elías Rúni and a group of volunteers.
