Loki is a project for queer men and non binary people to come together. And this Saturday they are throwing a TOPS OFF party at Gaukurinn. Top off parties have been part of the annual Bears on Ice and Reykjavík Bear festivals since 2005 with a big groups of festival goers from abroad and it will be interesting to see this one.

Reykjavík Film Festival is in full swing and as usual we can find a few interesting LGBTQ+ films there. Here are a few that caught our attention.

The incomparable trio of burlesque Gógó Starr (RVK) Mr. Gorgeous (NYC) and Miss Mokki (RVK) are on a Europe tour and will start and end the tour at Kiki! Special guests are Mara Marachino on Sept 2nd and Bobbie Michelle on Sept 16th. Be prepared for a wild evening of humour, flesh, drag, feathers, sharks, heels, sequins, pearls, circus and burlesque.

Samtökin '78 held a demonstration in solidarity with Italian queer families Sunday, August 27. About 50 persons attended the event.

The annual Reykjavík Bear weekend starts on Thursday when guests arrive from all over the world to socialize, do some sightseeing and party of course. All parties are open to locals guys and visitors. Tickets sold in the reykjavikbear.is shop and at the door. You can also join in the Welcome party on Thursday, free entrance. And don't forget the Humpday Social on Wednesday which is a separate monthly guys only event that has been running for over five years now.

On the weekend of 28-29 July there will be a Pride festival in Hrísey with a packed program. Mostly in Icelandic but you can still enjoy the festivities.

The first queer-pride held in Húsavík will be on the weekend of 28th - 30th of July along with other festivities named Mærudagar. The parade starts at 2 pm on Saturday 29th of July followed by entertainment, music, a barbecue and a get-together for everyone.

Some right-wingers in the USA are losing it over the new and inclusive Barbie movie, critiquing its expansive view of gender, a trans woman playing one of the Barbie characters, Ken is lacking testosterone and even calling it communist propaganda due to a map pictured in the movie.

What is this all about? Now the Loki and Vera organizations have organized an event to see the “movie that is driving the far right crazy with all of its trans propaganda! The Barbie movie is here to slay and Vera & Loki are not going to miss out! Join us next Tuesday night!"
