BEARS ON ICE 2013

The dates BEARS ON ICE 2013 event is September 5-8. This four day event will kick off with an Opening Party on Thursday September 5th. On Friday the group will go on a Geothermal sight seeing tour to see shooting geysers and Iceland´s most beautiful waterfall and Friday night everyone will get their top off at the BEARS ON ICE Furry Friday party. A bear trip to the world famous geothermal Blue Lagoon is always a welcomed experience where everyone will get recharged for the Saturday Central Party. BEARS ON ICE finishes with Sunday Farewell Brunch. In addition BEARS ON ICE team will be throwing in some extras to be revealed when you are here!

Outside the ring

"Outside the ring" is the name of the Friðrik Ómar's fifth solo album released November 1st. Friðrik Ómar (b. 1981) is one of Iceland´s best known gay singer and performer. He has kept himself very active all his carrier and by the age of 18 he had already released two solo albums.

The coming week and weekend is a busy one in Reykjavik.  Iceland Airwaves music festival kicks off this week as well as Rafwaves electronic music festival so all the music lovers in town will be busy catching up with talented artists performing. And there is a PINK PARTY for all the happy and gay people in town to attend Saturday night, November 3rd,  at Skuggabarinn at Hotel Borg, Pósthússtræti 9-11.

Men only Nights

Every second Sunday will be men only night at gay venue Kjallarinn on Laugavegur 73. "We aim to create relaxed and laid back social nights for men of all ages where they can mingle and chat and just have a good time" says Isar Logi, one of the organizers but the organizing team includes members from Styrmir (sport organization) and BEARS ON ICE.

Getting married in Iceland

A number of foreign same sex couples travel to Iceland every year to get married in a country that allows same sex marriages. When same sex marriage was legalized in Iceland in June 2010 legal differences between heterosexual marriage and same sex marriage (cohabitation as it was called) were eliminated; same sex marriage became fully equal with marriage on all levels.

Wedding visits are getting more popular

Pink Iceland, Iceland´s leading LGBT travel agency, has organized number of gay weddings since launching their service and wedding visits are becoming more and more popular every year.

Rainbow Reykjavik 2013

For the second time the Rainbow Reykjavik LGBT winter festival kicks off in Reykjavik, Iceland, January 31st, 2013.

This four day event (January 31st - February 3rd) offers a great mixture of events such as sight seeing tours, visit to the world famous Blue lagoon, city walk, northern light tours and ofcourse some late night partying.

Mayor of Reykjavik encourages mayor of Moscow to rethink policy towards gay pride parade

Mayor of Reykjavík Mr. Jón Gnarr has asked Moscow authorities to allow a proposed gay pride march to go forward without police interference. In a letter Mr. Jón Gnarr recently sent to Moscow´s mayor, Mr. Sergey Sobyanin, he encourages him to re-evaluate the decision to ban gay pride in Moscow and "support LGBT people in their wish to live a decent life instead of preventing in". By banning gay pride authorities is simply "a discrimination against citizens based on sexual orientation: a human rights violation".
