According to a recent survey tourists visiting Iceland spent on average 10.2 nights in Iceland and majority of those visiting (79,6%) where traveling on their own (not in organised groups or prepaid package). Two thirds booked their trip to Iceland 4 months or less prior to their visit. Online was the single most important source of information in the decision making and almost half of those who did visit chose rental cars as a way of transportation. Majority of visitors said the trip to Iceland was in line with their expectations and 79% said they where likely to visit again, preferably in the summer.
Icelandic nature seems to be the single most important factor when choosing Iceland as adestination and recommendations from friends do play an important part in the decision making. It is also interesting to see how many make their decisions in short advance.
