Reykjavik is bidding to host Outgames in 2017 but four cities are left in the running as World OutGames, Reykjavik, Miami, Rio de Janeiro and Rome. In a recent Gay Star article speculation from people close to the bidding process is that Miami Beach and Reykjavik are emerging as frontrunners in the bid process.
Reykjavik is no stranger to host international LGBT sport events. The International Gay and lesbian Aquatics (IGLA) was held in Reykjavik earlier this year receiving support from the city of Reykjavik and the Icelandic Swimming Association and was a huge success. Adding Outgames to that portfolio would be fantastic.
