A meta-theatrical performance about its own creation - with fragments of autobiographical text, live piano accompaniment and original songs - Good Morning, Faggi explores how internalised homophobia is learned in supposedly liberal countries. It asks the audience to consider how liberals centre themselves in coming-out narratives, and questions if tolerance is enough to end systemic oppression.
Góðan daginn, faggi (Good morning, faggi) is about to go on tour to the UK and Edinburgh Fringe, but first it will be performed in English at the National Theatre of Iceland!

"Gay actor Bjarni Snæbjörnsson finds his teenage diaries and is so taken by the content - he decides he has to write a show based on his childhood ponderings and letters to his mother, and of course, it needs to be a musical. As he navigates his personal history, he has a nervous breakdown. Knowing he still must write this play, with the support of dear friends, composer Axel Ingi and writer and director Gréta Kristín Ómarsdóttir, he tries to understand what happened to cause his mental collapse.

Good Morning, Faggi is co-written and workshopped by three best friends through writing labs, readings and co-thinking with communities of queer people in Iceland since 2017. The show premiered in August 2021, during Reykjavík Pride. It ran for two seasons, selling out over 120 shows and has toured extensively to venues, community spaces, and schools across Iceland."
