Queer-pride in Húsavík

The first queer-pride held in Húsavík will be on the weekend of 28th - 30th of July along with other festivities named Mærudagar. The parade starts at 2 pm on Saturday 29th of July followed by entertainment, music, a barbecue and a get-together for everyone.

BARBIE viewing - Vera & Loki

Some right-wingers in the USA are losing it over the new and inclusive Barbie movie, critiquing its expansive view of gender, a trans woman playing one of the Barbie characters, Ken is lacking testosterone and even calling it communist propaganda due to a map pictured in the movie.

What is this all about? Now the Loki and Vera organizations have organized an event to see the “movie that is driving the far right crazy with all of its trans propaganda! The Barbie movie is here to slay and Vera & Loki are not going to miss out! Join us next Tuesday night!"

Akranes Pride celebrations

In Akranes they recently painted the longest rainbow road in Iceland in honor of the five day Pride celebrations 19 – 23 July. The program is packed with events including, art exhibition, documentary festival, film shown in the swimming pool, warm up party on Friday, a variety of warm up events on the Saturday and a festive Pride Parade starting at 2. pm with entertainment afterwards. There will also be a big party Saturday night and on Sunday there will be a mass in the church with a queer twist.

Musical: Good Morning Faggi

A meta-theatrical performance about its own creation - with fragments of autobiographical text, live piano accompaniment and original songs - Good Morning, Faggi explores how internalised homophobia is learned in supposedly liberal countries. It asks the audience to consider how liberals centre themselves in coming-out narratives, and questions if tolerance is enough to end systemic oppression.

Loki is a project for queer men and non binary people to come together

Loki is a project for queer men and non binary people to come together that started in 2022. Loki organizes all kinds of events, they started with a pub quiz night to get things going but plans for other outings in the future are in the works. Parties, drag shows, balls, hikes, beer tastings, really anything exciting to bring people together is on the table.
