Reykjavik’s most entertaining competition, Iceland Drag Queen & Drag King, will take place August 5th, the day before Reykjavik Gay Pride opens. Since first held 10 years ago the competition has made a name for itself and has become an important part of Reykjavik’s Queer Culture.

Johanna continues to lead the government

Johanna Sigurdardottir, the world’s first openly gay prime minister, is to continue as pm after leading the Social Democrat party to victory in a snap election April 25th. Johanna was first appointed as the Iceland’s prime minister in February after a conservative-led government for 2 years failed.

The dates for Reykjavik Gay Pride 2009 are August 6 - 9. The Gay Pride benefit dances are an importand financial support to the Reykjavik Gay Pride.

BEARS ON ICE 2009 program is now available. For the fifht year bears & friends will be taking over the local gay scene in Reykjavik the second weekend of September. The event kicks off with a welcome party at the Queer Community Center September 10.
