The Gay European Tourism Association (GETA) has given its full backing to Iceland’s bid to host the World Outgames in 2017. This has been made clear in a recent press release GETA published this week.  Reykjavik is bidding to host Outgames in 2017 and is competing with Miami, Rio de Janeiro and Rome but in speculation from people close to the bidding process Miami Beach and Reykjavik are the frontrunners in the bid process.

BEARS ON ICE 2013 registration now open. The four day event kicks off September 5th but this is the 9th year the event takes place in Reykjavik. Event program indlcudes Thursday welcome party, Golden Circle sight seeing tour and an afternoon visit to the world famous geothermal Blue lagoon as well as Friday night party and Saturday Central party with local and international DJs performing. 

Club Kiki, the newest Queer Club in Reykjavik, opens this Friday, February 1st. Kiki is located on Laugavegur 22, the queerest corner in Reykjavik, where many of Reykjavik´s best known gay club have had its home in the past. Kiki promises "great music, fun atmo and best crowd in the world!" and will be much appreciated addition to Reykjavik´s gay scene. Kiki will be open on weekends (Fridays and Saturdays) from 11 pm to 4.30 am.

Rainbow Reykjavik  LGBT winter festivalis just around the corner with tons of fun things to. Among this year´s highlights is an amazing Eurovision show in Harpa music hall with many of Iceland´s best known artists and Eurovision contestants performing including Friðrik Ómar, Regína Ósk, Paul Oscar, Hera Björk and Sigríður Beinteinsdóttir. The concert takes place Friday (February 1st) starting 10.30 pm. Rainbow Reykjavik festival kicks off January 31st but the four day event offers guests everything from exotic sight seeing trips, northern lights hunt and late night parties. Tickets available here.

Rainbow Reykjavik was first held last year (2012) and attracted people from all around the world. This year we can expect even bigger crowd and more fun! The event starts Thursday January 31st with a Blue lagoon visit, Welcome party and a Northern Lights tour but among other event highlights is the Friday Pink Party,  Golden circle sight seeing tour (few options) and a Rainbow Reykjavik Concert in Harpa with some of Iceland´s best known performers. Extended program is available the days before and after the main event for those who want to see a little bit more of Iceland.

Reykjavik is bidding to host Outgames in 2017 but four cities are left in the running as World OutGames, Reykjavik, Miami, Rio de Janeiro and Rome. In a recent Gay Star article speculation from people close to the bidding process is that Miami Beach and Reykjavik are emerging as frontrunners in the bid process.

The dates BEARS ON ICE 2013 event is September 5-8. This four day event will kick off with an Opening Party on Thursday September 5th. On Friday the group will go on a Geothermal sight seeing tour to see shooting geysers and Iceland´s most beautiful waterfall and Friday night everyone will get their top off at the BEARS ON ICE Furry Friday party. A bear trip to the world famous geothermal Blue Lagoon is always a welcomed experience where everyone will get recharged for the Saturday Central Party. "Outside the ring" is the name of the Friðrik Ómar's fifth solo album released November 1st. Friðrik Ómar (b. 1981) is one of Iceland´s best known gay singer and performer. He has kept himself very active all his carrier and by the age of 18 he had already released two solo albums.
