Q - Association of queer students is celebrating its 12 year anniversary this year.  Q (first named FSS) was founded early year 1999 by group of people within the University of Iceland who felt the gay community was hardly visible within the university and something had to change. Raising the awareness of LGBT issues within the university, both among students and staff, was important as well as to provide some level of support for those LGBT students that might need it. Since 1999 a lot has changed, both within the University and in Icelandic society. Progressive steps have been taken since 1999 and over the years the level of acceptance has changed for the better. BEARS OF ICELAND are proud to announce the date for the BEARS ON ICE 2011 event which is to be held the second weekend of September in Reykjavik, Iceland September, 8-11th. For the 7th year bears and friends will take over the local gay scene and have some fun. So if you don't want to stack some food up in your hotel room check HERE for a fairly good list of places that are open in Reykjavik´s city center from 24th to 26th.
